We were honored when Amar Chitra Katha approached The Accha Studio to create a special tribute artwork celebrating what would have been Anant Pai’s 95th birthday. Fondly known as Uncle Pai, he was the visionary who brought India’s rich mythology, history, and folk tales to life for countless young readers. His creations not only entertained but educated, bridging generational gaps and instilling a deep sense of cultural pride.

For this artwork, we wanted to capture Uncle Pai’s warmth and his lasting influence. At the center, we depicted him with a cake with a single candle—a symbol of his enduring legacy that continues to inspire. His gentle, joyful expression reflects the fatherly figure he became to Indian children through his work. Surrounding him are some of Tinkle’s most beloved characters, including Suppandi, Shikari Shambu, Aisha, and Wingstar. These characters, brought to life by Uncle Pai’s creativity, represent the joy and laughter he gifted to readers.

The festive background, with its colorful banners and cheerful atmosphere, emphasizes celebration and nostalgia, creating a scene that feels like a gathering of old friends. By blending these characters and symbols around Uncle Pai, the artwork captures the essence of his storytelling legacy and the love his readers continue to hold for him.
